Eldorado State Wildlife Area Eldorado is one of the richest marshes in the area; a favorite place for bird watchers. Grasslands, marshes, woodlands and brushy areas accent this 6,371-acre property. Open water areas of the marsh attract some unusual shorebirds in years when water levels are low and there are exposed mud flats for feeding. Hundreds of Sandhill Cranes congregate here during the fall migration to feed and rest before traveling south. In the winter, look for Horned Larks and flocks of Snow Buntings and Lapland Longspurs on snowy roads and fields. Occasional Snowy Owls are also seen in winter. Directions: From Eldorado, travel 2 miles north on Cty C, then east 1 mile on Cty N.
