NEWS & REPORTS
- Region Viewing Guides
These guides are PDF files of brochures created by the Wisconsin Department of Tourism (John P. Cronin). The PDF files are very large and may be slow to view unless you have a fast internet connection. Hard copies of these guides can be ordered online at Travel Wisconsin, by phone (800/432-TRIP), or at Wisconsin Travel Information Centers. Note: information from the guides about each trail site is available on this website by clicking Maps on the menu above and then selecting the region.
- The first regional trail to be completed, the Lake Superior/North Woods Birding and Nature Trail opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by hundreds of people on May 20, 2004 (National Trails Day). The site of the grand opening was Crex Meadows State Wildlife Area in Grantsburg ( Burnett County). Following the ribbon cutting and speeches by dignitaries was a four-day, community wide Wisconsin Birding and Nature Trail Festival.
- Checklist of Wisconsin Birds. A new publication from the Department of Natural Resources, Endangered
