Site Description

This IBA lies along Lake Michigan in northern Sheboygan and southern Manitowoc counties, and includes the Fischer Creek and Point Creek Conservation Areas of Manitowoc County Parks, and Kingfisher Farm, a natural area managed by UW-Green Bay.  Habitats at this site include open water, shoals, beach, deciduous and coniferous woodlands, riparian corridor, wet shrublands, and oldfields.

Ornithological Importance

This area hosts significant late fall, winter, and spring concentrations of diving ducks, loons, and grebes, including high numbers of long-tailed duck and greater scaup.  Thousands of diurnal raptors pass through the site during migration, particularly in the fall.
