D.D. Kennedy Environmental Area/County Park A 106-acre preserve along the Balsam Branch that flows through central Polk County. A prairie restoration area features native grasses and wildflowers. The park includes a dam, millpond, and well-maintained trails. It provides a variety of habitat for a good mix of birds.
Directions: From St. Croix Falls travel east 8 miles on Hwy 8, turn south on Hwy 65 about 1.5 miles, turn east on 115th Avenue about 1.5 miles to the park. Watch for the small, brown signs.
