Big Bay State Park Located on Madeline Island, the largest of 22 Apostle Islands, this 2,418-acre park sports rugged wooded cliffs with dramatic views of Lake Superior. It contains a State Natural Area that is open for use by the public. Habitats include bogs, barrier beach, boreal forest and old growth hemlock. Directions: Take car ferry from Bayfield to La Pointe on Madeline Island. Follow signs 4 miles to the park. Paved parking lot.
